We’ve compiled some of our most frequently asked questions about our PVC-U windows, doors and conservatories. But if you can’t find the answer to your question just get in touch with us today.

Q. So many PVC-U windows seem to look so similar. Are they really any differences?

A. Yes. Not just in their looks but in ways you can’t see, like manufacturing quality, materials used and of course long-lasting performance. New windows may look similar now but wait till a poor quality one goes wrong!

Q. Do I need Planning Permission for new windows, doors and conservatories?

A. New windows: not usually, unless you live in a special location such as a Conservation Area or near to historic sites. Don’t worry though; our trained staff can guide you – and will check on your behalf if there is still any doubt. Conservatory: again not usually but there are factors to be considered, and again – we’re on hand with all the guidance you need.

Q. What about Building Regulations?

A. We will always make sure new windows, door and conservatories installed are fully compliant and will carry out the certification process for you wherever it is needed.

Q. How can I tell how energy efficient my new windows are?

A. Many PVC-U windows have an Energy Rating label with colour-coding and are marked A (the most efficient), B or C. Others use the U-Value system, where the lower number indicated the most efficient.

Q. We already have double glazing that was put in years ago. Why would we want to replace it?

A. New generation double glazed PVC-U windows are so much more thermally efficient that you could save as much heat again as you did going double glazed in the first place. They also look much more sleek and offer far higher security from intruders.

Q. Will there be much upheaval while the work is going on?

A. We’ll do our very best to keep it to an absolute minimum while installing your new windows, doors and conservatories – and we will never leave your home open to weather or intruders at any stage.

Q. What happens to my guarantee if your company ceases to trade for any reason?

A. Insurance backed guarantees usually protect you against this, but not all are as failsafe. Network VEKA operates its own IBG so you are doubly-sure of being covered. It even covers any deposits or work in progress payments that may be asked for. And every Network VEKA member is obliged to offer it to every customer at no extra charge whatsoever.

Q. How can I check the quality of an installation company before making my choice, especially when the industry has such a mixed reputation?

A. Our Network VEKA membership means we have already been thoroughly vetted, not just for product quality, but also for training standards, guarantees, financial stability and overall customer satisfaction.

Q. What if I am not happy with anything you have done?

A. Firstly, of course, tell us. But you are also free to take any grievance to Network VEKA.

Q. What if I am happy?

A. Tell all your friends! Network VEKA members gain proportionately more business from word-of-mouth recommendations, so our happy customers are very important to us.
